Canales ossis temporalis

Canalis caroticus. External opening is  apertura externa  canalis carotici on facies inferior partis petrosae, internal opening is  interna canalis carotici on apex partis petrosae.

Canalis nervi facialis begins in depth of meatus acusticus internus, goes up to  hiatus canalis nervi petrosi majoris where it turns   90 degrees creating a knee- geniculum canalis nervi facialis. Canal continues paralel to pars petrosae axis up to level of eminentia arcuata where it again turns 90 degrees, continue downwards and opens in  foramen stylomastoideum. At downward part of canal it has branches- canaliculus chordae tympani.

Canaliculus chordae tympani begins at down part of  canalis nervi facialis and ends in  cavitas tympani. Nerve that goes through it crosses the cavitas tympani and leaves it through  fissura petrotympanica

Canaliculus tympanicus opens in  fossula petrosa on facies inferior partis petrosae, goes to cavitas tympani.

Canalis musculotubarius contains  semicanalis musculi tensoris tympani and semicanalis tubae auditivae. Its external opening is on facies inferior partis petrosae next to margo anterior. Its internal opening is in cavitas tympani.

Canaliculus cochleae opens on facies inferior partis petrosae next to incisura jugularis and goes to cochlea.

Canaliculus vestibuli opens on facies posterior partis petrosae and goes to vestibulum.

Canaliculus caroticotympani goes from canalis caroticus to cavitas tympani.
